v Winscombe
18 April: Winscombe 10 - Clevedon 40

Clevedon travelled to Winscombe for their final match before their appearance in the Somerset Cup Final to be held at Bridgwater's ground on 2 May.  For once this season the game was played in brilliant sunshine, with hardly a breath of wind.

Clevedon kicked off and the ball soon found its way to within 10m of the Winscombe try line and a line-out.  Clevedon won this as they were to do for most of the line-outs throughout the game.  The ball was quickly surrounded by the Clevedon forwards and the push was on, slowly but surely they advanced on the Winscombe line, with Mike Armstrong scoring the eventual try.  Dom Hanley converted.  The next Clevedon try came from scrum-half Harry Knowles, who managed to wriggle through tackles and then went on a long maisey run scoring under the post.  Tom Pinder at centre had the next scoring opportunity taking the ball in midfield and running for the left-hand flag, only to be tackled into touch just short of the try line.  Clevedon's next attack broke down and the intercepted ball was carried up the Winscombe left wing for an unconverted try.  Clevedon continued to dominate play and eventually Mike Winter made a midfield interception and then powerfully sprinted for the posts and scored.  Winscombe responded with a brilliant run by their full-back, who was stopped short of the line but the recycled ball was taken over the line for Winscombe's second unconverted try.  The final score of the first half came from another line-out win, followed by a drive, the ball fed to Dom Hanley, who sold a dummy and took the ball over to touch down next to the post.  The half-time score was 28-10.

Clevedon substituted a number of players at half-time to make sure the squad were well exercised in preparation for the Cup Final.  Though Clevedon continued to dominate the game with most of the possession and the game played in Winscombe's half of the pitch, scoring proved harder, except for Will Richardson playing at flanker, who scored twice.  The first came from a line-out, with Will receiving the ball in midfield and then powerfully carrying the ball through the Winscombe defence to score.  The second was an interception from a maul.  The final score was 40-10.
