v Weston
28 March: Clevedon 29 - Weston 15

Clevedon played host to local rivals Weston.  As usual the game was a hard fought midfield battle with plenty of aerial bombardment.

Clevedon kicked-off and Weston were unable to take the ball cleanly allowing the Clevedon forwards to claim the ball and in the confusion score.  The try was scored by Ned Bristow and converted by Dom Hanley.  There then followed a period of Clevedon trying to repeat their early success with lots of high balls aimed at testing Weston's catching skills.  There was no repeat and play became condensed into the middle half of the pitch with possession switching from one team to the other.  Clevedon showing marginally more pressure and managing to pass the ball to their wingers for deep runs into the Weston half.  The Weston team appeared stronger than the side Clevedon had beaten earlier in the year, but had problems stringing together enough passes to threaten the home team, before possession switched and Clevedon were again on the attack.  A penalty kick allowed Clevedon to widen the margin.  Soon after Joe Trudgian quick wittedly intercepted a Weston kick, catching the visitor's defence off-guard and allowed him to run through to score directly under the posts.  The half-time score was 17-0.

Clevedon were soon pressing the Weston try line after the start of the second half.  However, the Weston left winger managed to intercept a Clevedon pass and ran over half the length of the pitch to score an unconverted try.  A penalty kick allowed Weston to further close the gap.  In response Clevedon forced play back to within 10 m of the Weston try line and from winning a line-out were able to form another rolling maul that resulted in a converted try for Tom Barnes.  As the second half progressed Sam White on the Clevedon left wing ran in another try.  A few minutes later the Clevedon scrum-half, Harry Knowles came close to a try in a similar location, but it was disallowed for being marginally in touch.  Weston managed to score a try in the dying moments of the match.  Final score 29-15.
