v Coalville
3 April: Clevedon 48 - Coalville 5

The winners of the Leicestershire County Plate competition visited Clevedon while on their Easter Tour.  The game was played at Clevedon School due to the volume of rain that had fallen overnight.  However this was nothing compared to the torrential rain that was to fall for over an hour during the match, with players sending up at plume of water as they were tackled and splashed into the laying water.

Clevedon were soon into scoring mode.  From the kick-off the ball ended up in touch, from the line-out the ball made its way to fly-half Dom Hanley who duly scored the first try.  There then followed tries by centre Mike Winter from a midfield break, followed by number eight Andy Davis.  There then followed a slight lull in the scoring as the two teams came to terms with the increasingly bad rain.  Winter and Davis were both to score again before the end of the first half.  The half was completed by a try from centre Joe Trudgian to bring the half-time score to 34-0.

The second half started with an early try by Trudgian.  There then followed a sterile period of twenty minutes, when Clevedon defended their huge points margin and allowed Coalville to apply pressure to their try line.  Eventually Coalville were to score, but were unable to convert.  This appeared to re-invigorate the Clevedon team who started to re-apply the pressure.  Winters was given the opportunity of a 30 metre sprint for the try-line and duly scored under the posts, which Hanley was able to convert.  The final score being 48-0.

The two teams retired to the Clevedon Clubhouse where in true Touring tradition Awards and Speeches were made and silly games played.
